MLM and SEO. Bad Business! No Business!

MLM has been around way before the Internet. It is a few steps
above a chain letter. Well, maybe more then a few steps. MLM has
paved the way for people to have their own business. It can
start out as side money and flourish into a very profitable
business.

Now, you are probably saying to yourself “Joe, what do you know
about MLM?” Well, folks in the early days I did MLM. Yes, I am a
not proud of it. Not because it’s MLM but, because I wasn’t any
good at it. Thank goodness though. I may not have found my
calling in SEO if I did. What I am trying to say is…MLM is
hard. Nowadays, they try to make it easier by offering you a
cookie cutter site. What? A cookie cutter site? Isn’t that bad
SEO? YES! MLM in their attempt to help their down-line are
actually making it harder. You want to spend more time promoting
your site by:

Writing content Testimonials Recommendations Providing tips
about the items or products ..and so on.

MLM companies force you to throw more of your hard earn money
into advertising. If you know the name of a well established MLM
company type it into Google. What you get is dozens of sites.
Many of them are the same exact site dominating over the others.
It is usually the companies own site. Generating leads that YOU
will have to pay to get. While your cookie cutter site fights
for spots on Google adwords. Which by the way YOUR MLM has the
top 3 positions. So, how do you win? Create your own web site.
Find keywords related to what you sell and not the company name.
If you cannot do that then create a blog. Place tips,
recommendations, and testimonials and so on in your blog. Do
your own Google campaign. Find message boards, blogs and
websites that have interests in what you sell. You can even do a
link exchange with other blogs.

Until MLM companies’ see how valuable SEO is to the success of
their business and yours you can never be successful. They will
always tell you about the successes and never the failures. It
is true it takes money to make money. But, if the main company
corners the market on leads how can you ever make it ahead? Go
door to door?

Take matters into your own hands. Or, better yet. Demand your
up-line provide you with a better way to achieve your goals.
They are profiting from all your hard work. So, let them help
you as much as possible. If that doesn’t work take matters into
your own hands. The worst you can do is make things better.

When it comes to successful MLM prospecting there are three essential steps that any network marketer must know, to establish, create, and grow their business. These steps include:

• Finding Leads

• Exposing the Company

• Separating Leads

By following each of these steps, you will have the ability to experience success in MLM prospecting and ultimately success in your MLM business.

It is a well-known fact that in order to succeed in an MLM business it is imperative that you constantly prospect new people into your downline. At the same time, you must also be generating leads. If you are without leads, then who will you prospect or even sponsor? No one! There are several ways to generate leads for both you and your downline.

One of the most popular ways is making full use of message boards and forums. This is a great way to generate leads and prospects. All you have to do is post as normal, at relevant websites, and include your product, company, and personal information in the signature file. This method invites any interested person to contact you, about your business. Of course, this is not the only method of generating prospecting leads; you could form a breakfast club of business owners to swap leads, create interesting answers to the question “what do you do for a living”, or even make use of press releases.

Exposing the company is not at all hard, but this can only be done after you have generated leads. In MLM prospecting, you approach your leads enthusiastically but not over the top with enthusiasm. In order to excel in prospecting, you must expose the company and its product; however, you should do so with excitement, but in a laid back and conversational manner. This requires people skills, because many people are skeptical about MLM companies, thanks to the bad seeds.

Because it is important to keep your contact with prospects conversational, one excellent piece of advice is to use what is known as F.O.R.M. when speaking with any new prospect. This is particularly helpful when it comes to sharing your opportunity with those in the “offline” world.

• F – Family (Are you married? How many kids do you have?)

• O – Occupation (What do you do for a living? Do you like it?)

• R – Recreation (What are your hobbies? Do you have time for them? What would you do if

you had more time for your hobbies?)

• M – Message (your company, your opportunity, and how your business can benefit them)

The key to F.O.R.M. is that you cannot implement the message until you have discussed the first three. You have to listen to what the prospect is saying. As an example, if while the person is talking, they mention they simply do not have the time they want to spend with their Family, or make enough money in their Occupation to afford their Recreation, you can then proceed to your Message. Using the three FÂ’s Feel, Felt, and Found, you can inform your prospect within your message, How you know how they feel, you felt the same way, and what you found to overcome those situations.

The last step is separating your leads. You have to place your leads into two areas. The first area is those who are gung ho about your opportunity and the other area are those who are skeptical. Those within the first area, you can immediate sign them up and get them on the road to a successful MLM business of their own. Those in the second area, you will need to take a little more time, if they still do not show an interest, you may be able to generate other interested leads from them.
