When it comes to online marketing the numbers don’t lie. Statistically you will find that online marketing is no different from any other business. There’s no magical exception to the success/failure ratio.

Just as many business ventures fail online as they do offline. It doesn’t matter if you’re dealing with affiliate marketing, network marketing or a brick and mortar business, there will always be more failures than successes.

To point out some statistics, I’ve listed a few real world examples:

1. Two-thirds of start-up businesses last their first 2 years; just over 40% last 4 years. As the years progress, the chances of a business closing goes up. There’s a 50/50 chance you will either survive or not. It’s a flip of the coin.

2. In network marketing, there’s a 95% failure rate, year after year.

So why does this occur?

There are several factors involved including competition, timing, marketing, etc. While these numbers are grim, you can ensure your business will survive the turbulent waters.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Make sure what you’re offering is either unique or people want it.

2. Become passionate about what you’re doing and the rest will follow.

3. Make good business decisions to ensure balance.

4. Start building your brand and getting it out to as many people as you can. Use every available online marketing tool you can like social media sites, Google AdWords (pay-per-click), forums, blogs, websites, etc.

5. Stick it out. No matter how bad things get always keep at it. If something isn’t working, change it. There’s no reason you can’t have a successful business if you want it. Take charge and see it through to the end. If you’re serious about your business, quitting should never be an option.

Don’t let your online marketing business become just another statistic. Make your business a part of you and never give up.
