Multi Level Companies can be thought of as distributors and many operate order fulfillment warehouses. These MLM companies motivate you as a franchiser to sell their products, with support coming from the MLM company. Be carefull of MLM companies that offer compensation based solely on how many people you can persuade to sign up under you. Also be wary of MLM companies that require you to put up large amounts of money to join. Some may claim that the signup fee is used to cover training costs or startup equipment. These types of companies are not truly an MLM company, but rather a pyramid or ponzi scheme. You could invest a large amount of money up front and end up flat broke. The law also takes a dim view of these types of schemes and could get you in trouble with them. Working for a valid MLM company you will be rewarded financially for your hard work and sales you make to your customers.
Who stands to gain from multi level marketing? Although the number of fraudsters may make it seem intimidating, choosing a good MLM scheme can put you in a very good economic position. MLM schemes can provide a great way to start up in business for the first time, as overheads are low and it is not usually necessary to have a lot of business skills. You may be able to acquire skills while working as part of multi level marketing initiative which you can then transfer to other business interests. However, an MLM company will not do the work for you. You will only earn money in proportion to the effort you put in. Many MLM companies offer bonuses to particularly hard working employees. MLM schemes are great for highly motivated, committed individuals who want to make the best of their sales skills. With MLM, you do not need to worry about the logistics of managing products or services; you can just get out there and do what you are good at. Every business initiative carries some risks, and most can be avoided by using common sense and taking time to think over each individual contract. So do not be afraid to give MLM a try. It could be the right solution for you.

Exactly why is multilevel marketing a bad idea?
I have this colleague at work who keeps trying to recruit me in his MLM team and I can’t get him off my back. I know that in general these schemes are doomed to fail, that most of them are scams and the ones who make the money are the ones on top of the pyramid. I just don’t want to get involved but he keeps showing me pamphlets and talking about all those “simple” people who got rich. The question I dread the most is “WHY” – “Why are you so sure it won’t work?”, “How can you be so prejudiced when you haven’t even tried it?” and so on. And since “just a gut feeling” doesn’t sound a reason enough to reject “such an opportunity” now I’m asking for an explanation exactly why MLM scemes are considered a failure. Thanks.
People in MLM are trained to keep pestering you, and logical answers to their questions will not stop them. The appropriate answer to all questions is: “I refuse to discuss this anymore.” Your colleague is rude, if not obnoxious to keep pestering you. You can consider also throwing in comments like: “I don’t want to join a MLM because I don’t like to pester people the way you pester me. I’m not that obnoxious.”
But the best answer is usually silence.
